For Vegetables

How long does it take for fiber to work?

I have IBS so I have started myself on fiber supplements, I have been taking fiber-sure, and following the directions. But it doesnt seem to be working very well. It has been about a week, the first couple days, there was an improvement. But after that, I cant say it has been any better than before, maybe even worst. Is that just the normal effect of starting on fiber? should i stop or continue? I've never been on a fiber supplement before so i'm not sure and I guess my body isnt use to it. Thank You! I have also been drinking alot of water, like atleast 3 bottles a day. Because of the heat, and because I like to stay hydrated.

  1. If you try real fiber instead of supplements, it starts within 48 hours. Try a whole-grain cereal such as Kashi, or oatmeal in the morning. Eat two pieces of fruit per day, and try eating more whole-grain breads, and pasta and lots of fresh veggies. Good luck!
  2. Our bodies are all different. What's good for the goose is not always right for the gander!! http://www.detox-diet-plan.com http://www.zonediet-delivery.com
  3. Try prune juice or eat raisins............it's healthy and it'll get it all started :) naturally
  4. you may want to consult your physician if you having that much problem... i replaced my supplement with high fiber cereal i found that the cereal is not only more healthier but more natural than taking a fiber supplement.. .plus im getting more daily fiber with the cereal than the supplement... the other thing i do that helps is when i have my dinner no matter what it is i make sure i have at least one large helping of a green veggie and if it needs cooked i steam it... good luck
  5. First of all, Fiber is not absorbed by the body, it basically helps you get of waste through the colon. You need to consult a physician about taking any kind of supplement for your condition. Also, you should be consuming at least 6 to 8 8oz. of water a day. I don't know how large the bottles of water you drink are, but they not be enough. the 6 to 8 is what is recommended if you not being active and under normal temperature conditions, so during this hot time you might want to drink more. I think you really should see your doctor about taking a fiber supplement.
