What to do with water that vegetables are boiled in?
Any suggestions on what to do with water that vegetables are boiled in? I heard 1 thing you can do is to give it to plants? Thanks.

- I use it for soup, or anything else I'm cooking that needs some water in it. I'll even freeze it in cubes. It's called vegetable broth and you have to buy it cans for a recipe if you don't have some on hand.
- Let it cool and then water houseplants with it....great idea
- Yes you can water your plants with it as long as you haven't added salt or anything else to the water.
- You could make soup like Gordon Ramsay does... he boils his broccoli, reserves the water, puts the broccoli in a blender and adds water until the soup reaches his desired consistency. You can of course add a bit of olive oil, spices, and parmesan cheese, but a bit of salt and pepper does me A-OK. Another thing reserved boil water is to use it to make pasta or bread... I know it sounds weird, but it's a way to use up the nutrients and liquid and a bit of flavor all at once.
- Fruit and veg scraps go into the compost, which goes into the plant soil, so I wonder if it wouldn't be beneficial as well. When I steam vegetables, I save the water in an ice cream pail in the freezer and once it's filled then I use it for soup or stock making.
- save for stock. use in place of cheken stock in recipes.
- You can add it to mash potato, use it as a base for the soup, cook pasta in it, use it for sauces instead of chicken broth.
- you can add some chicken parts to it and have chicken stock or broth, just add a few seasonings and boil until the chicken is done. strain the broth through a strainer. yeah you can also let it cool down and freeze it for another use. it's much cheaper than buying canned broth. enjoy!
- Reduce it and freeze it, you can use it to add flavour next time you make gravy.
- Use it to make gravy, that way you don't lose any goodness from the veggies....
- works great for soup broth
- its good for broth or even to cook pasta or rice!
