For Vegetables

What vegetables do you reccomand to throw on the grill / pit?

Today we grilled Purple Onions and Belle Peppers. What are some other vegetables you reccomand? I heard people grill Romaine Lettuce but that sounds odd.

  1. You can grill squash, mushrooms, tomatoes (althought I don't care for cooked tomatoes...) Those are the only ones that I can think of. Here is a link with a few mhttp://allrecipes.com/HowTo/Grilling-101-Grilled-Vegetables/Detail.aspxore ideas.
  2. Mushroom, tomatoes, paprika, eggplant, onions, peppers, Jalapeno, potatoes, corn, summer squash, zucchini, broccoli...
  3. look here: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-specials/grilled-vegetables-recipe/index.html
  4. Zuchinni squash, Potatoes (wrap in foil), Corn on the cob, jalepeno peppers stuffed with cheese and wrapped with bacon (use a toothpick to hold it together.
  5. Romaine (or any leafy green) sounds weird to me, too. I'd say any firm fleshed veg: zucchini and other squashes, other onion slices or halves, corn on the cob, tomatoes, portabello mushrooms and (I know you asked just about veg, but) even some firm-fleshed fruit.
  6. corn on the cob is great and classic.. haha. tomatoes can work as well as long as you cut them slightly thick and the same goes with eggplant too.
  7. tomatoes are the best in my opinion. get some cherry or roma's and toss them on there until the get soft (skewer them if they are small enough to fall through the grates)! we also do mushrooms, eggplant, zucchini, onions, peppers, potatoes (wash and wrap in aluminum foil), fresh corn (remove the silk but leave the husks on. wash with water. salt and pepper the corn. pull the husks back up and toss on the grill). peaches are really good too. halve them and sprinkle with sugar. cook until they have some nice grill marks and the sugar is carmelized.
  8. Asparagus, mushrooms, zucchini, corn, potatoes, carrots, peppers, garlic...all good!!!!!! -Romaine Lettuce is good grilled with a bit of oil and vinegar drizzled on afterwards and a sprinkling of blue cheese! -Also...if you brush a bit of lime juice/honey mixture onto halved nectarines and grill them (not a veggie, I know) but sooooo good!!!!!!! Great with ice cream!!
  9. Mushrooms, zucchini, corn (grilled or roasted corn is wonderful). Personally, I love red bell peppers. For grilling I usually marinate the vegetables in some oil and balsamic vinegar, with some chopped fresh herbs or some dried herbs. You might also try garlic. (I think you'd wrap the whole garlic bulb in foil, maybe with some butter.)
  10. any type of vege as long as you know that it is a vegetable.
  11. I buy Italian or Japanese eggplant, red and yellow peppers, Anaheim peppers, zucchini, yellow summer squash, portabella mushrooms, endive, bokchoy, corn on the cob! With all of the veggies I slice them about 1/4 inch thick and put a very, very light coating of oil and vinegar dressing or Italian dressing on before grilling. The peppers I cut into 1/8ths, while the bunchy veggies (endive, bokchoy), I cut the heads in half. With the corn on the cob, we soak the corn for about 20 minutes, leave the husks on and turn as we grill it. Oh my goodness the veggies are great! My daughter has the best yet! She buys a fresh pineapple, cores and peels it. Then she slices it about 1/4 thick and grills it. It is absolutely heavenly! Grilled peaches are great too, and nectarines as well. We have found that with all the veggies, we don't have room for all that we want to put on! Hope this gets you experimenting!
  12. Grilled Romaine is great on the grill. Believe it or not every veg, and fruits are delicious cooked on the grill Deserts like my orange bombs will blow you away. Well figuratively anyway. Charcoal is wood
